Pennsylvania Interagency Health Equity Team (PIHET)

The Pennsylvania Interagency Health Equity Team (PIHET) was initiated in February 2017. This team is a replication of a federal interagency team (FIHET) which includes a representative or representatives from many state agencies that come together to discuss health equity among their particular agency.

We convene Commonwealth leaders to end health disparities by building capacity for equitable policies and programs, cultivating strategic partnerships, and sharing relevant models for action.

Goals

• Collaborate with diverse State agencies to define linkages between their missions and health equity.
  
• Identify, develop, and implement strategies to achieve health equity through State policies, programs, and activities.
• Leverage assets, influence, and experiences of State agencies, partners, and communities to promote health equity.
• Create opportunities to generate, facilitate, and translate research, data, and emerging knowledge about health equity into practice and policy.
• Educate and mentor peers to develop equity champions within all state agencies.
