First Responders
To save lives and give individuals a chance to get into treatment, the Wolf Administration is focused on increasing access to
naloxone, a life-saving medication that can reverse the fatal effects of opioid overdose.
Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine signed a
standing order prescription that allowed first responders, like municipal police and fire departments, access to the medication. Since then, law enforcement has saved at least 6,000 lives with naloxone.
