Northampton County

Borough of Bangor

Bangor Borough, located in northeastern Northampton County, Pennsylvania was settled in 1760 and incorporated in 1875 with a current population of 5,273. The Borough was born from a history of mining slabs of grey slate out of the hillsides, sewing textiles and local farming. Today, the people of Bangor are hardworking local craftspeople, artisans and small business owners. Bangor is an affordable place to start a business, raise a family or establish a professional practice within an energetic community and historical downtown district. The historical district is nestled in a scenic valley, which is the heart of several small towns located in the "Slate Belt." The Borough has a focus on maintaining its historic character all the while reinventing itself to reflect the dynamics of the 21st century.
