World TB Day
World TB Day is celebrated every year on March 24, commemorating the day in 1882 when the discovery of the bacteria that causes TB was first announced. For more information, visit the CDC webpage World TB Day.
One year after the first cases emerged, COVID-19 surpassed tuberculosis in 2020 as the leading global cause of death from an infectious disease. In the U.S., the CDC reported a 20% decrease in U.S. TB cases in 2020 – and concern of possible missed cases.
