This website provides a host of resources and information to help support healthy and productive school environments for our nation's children.
Safe Management of Chemicals in Schools EPA web-based tool kit helps schools and school districts start or
improve their chemical management programs. These tools can be used to design
programs that reduce chemical hazards. In addition, the EPA has assembled a
variety of resources on the safe handling of chemicals in schools.
Healthy School Environments Assessment Tool (Healthy SEAT v2)
This software tool will help schools evaluate and manage their school facilities for key environmental, safety and heath issues. This tool is designed to be customized to conduct completely voluntary self-assessments of school facilities and to track and manage information on environmental conditions school by school.
The Green Schools Initiative
Founded in 2004 by parents, this initiative works to improve the environmental health and ecological sustainability of schools in the U.S. They believe it is essential to protect children's health by: eliminating toxins; using resources sustainably; create green spaces and buildings and serve healthy food and teach stewardship. The Green Squad
A project of the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Green Squad teaches students about the relationship between their schools and environmental and health issues. The squad is designed primarily for students in grades 5 through 8. Children's Environmental Health Network
