Sexual Violence Prevention and
Education Program

The Department of Health (Department) was awarded a grant through the Centers for Disease and Control Prevention (CDC) in 2006 and entered into a cooperative agreement with the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR) to provide sexual violence prevention and education programming throughout Pennsylvania.  The Department, along with PCAR, developed a statewide strategic plan in 2010, which outlines the initial goals and relevant data surrounding the primary prevention of sexual violence in Pennsylvania.
In addition, the Department and PCAR, along with the 44 local rape crisis centers who engage in primary prevention, continue to develop and implement prevention strategies targeting specific populations across the commonwealth.
The Department will be continuing its work with PCAR in the prevention of sexual violence and continue to apply for CDC funding in this effort.
