From mid-August to December 18, 2014, CDC or state public health laboratories have confirmed a total of 1,152 people in 49 states and the District of Columbia with respiratory illness caused by EV-D68. This indicates that at least one case has been detected in each state listed on the CDC website, but it does not indicate how widespread infections are in each state. Pennsylvania is one of the states where cases have been confirmed. While the Department of Health does not provide county-specific information when there are less than five cases in a county, in an effort to ensure the public is aware of where in the state identified cases have been confirmed, we will provide information regionally in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Health Community Health Districts.

As of January 7, 2014, Pennsylvania has 49* CDC confirmed cases. These individual cases reside in the following regions:

- 21 in the Southeast
- 8 in the Southwest
- 4 in the Southcentral
- 7 in the Northwest
- 4 in the Northeast
- 5 in the Northcentral
